As teachers, they introduced cross-country skiing to their colleagues and students, fostering a community-wide enthusiasm that led to the formation of the Pasadena Nordic Ski Club (PNSC) in 1977.
Henry and Kay played crucial roles in the establishment and growth of the PNSC, organizing events like the 1978 Provincial Marathon, which attracted a record number of participants. They were deeply involved in developing purpose-built ski trails and securing government grants for infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Looper Trail and the PSNP chalet.
