Hi All,
We’ve scheduled a Learning-to-Train (L2T) On-Snow coaching course in St. John’s. It will take place:
-Sunday Feb 04, 6-10PM, in-person at the Pippy Park Winter Activity Centre (outdoors, skating).
-Monday Feb 05, 6-10PM, in-person at the Pippy Park Winter Activity Centre (outdoors, classic).
-One or two Zoom sessions the following week(s) – scheduled based on people’s availability.
These courses are highly recommended for anyone coaching track attack and older jackrabbits (8~9 to 11~12), and is a prerequisite for the T2T courses for older athletes. There are some insurance considerations as well – it’s good to have.
The course instructor is Mark Tierney, who is a really good instructor and has a lot of experience coaching and racing. I’ve personally learned a lot from him.
This course isn’t offered often (once every 2-3 years) so I urge you to take advantage.
We have permission from Nordiq Canada to allow participants who haven’t taken the Learning-to-Train (L2T) Dryland course (normally taken before this one), to do this one first. In terms of other prerequisites, you would need to have completed:
-Coach Initiation in Sport < https://thelocker.coach.ca/onlinelearning#CIS-E > (about 1 hour). {if you ever did an in-person Intro to Community Coaching, you don’t need this}.
-Intro to Community Coaching (ICC) < https://thelocker.coach.ca/onlinelearning#CC-ICC-E > (about 6-8 hours).
Which can be taken online at the links above. If you’re doing any coaching currently, you probably already have these.
Avalon Nordic will cover the course cost (and above ICC costs if needed) for any of it’s active coaches. Members of other clubs should ask their executive (it’s typical to get it covered). Otherwise the course cost is 100$.
Please let me know if you can attend and cc Mark Tierney <admin@cornerbrook.net>.
